Happy Friday! Check out Sophie the superstar – she has got stuck into her fundraising from the get go and continues to do wonderfully, prepare to be inspired!

From the beginning I thought the trip looked incredible; we were told all about the projects we’d be getting stuck into while we’re over there and I was amazed at the impact it could have on the locals and the children. Of course I was also excited about visiting the orang-utan sanctuary and fell in love with the sun bears, but one thing I will look forward to in particular is scuba diving, which will be so much fun, never mind the amazing sea life! Plus I love camping and hiking and can’t wait to stay in the jungle and the long houses. I was nervous at first at the thought of having to raise such a large amount of money but once I got started, I realised how much fun it can be.

To raise my first amount, my mum and I started to make crafts and cards to sell at Christmas fairs, which ended up being a great success. It didn’t take much planning and we were able to go to around 3 fairs over the holidays. I also set up a blog which allows me to advertise my fundraising and tell people more about what I will be doing, as well as keep track of all the events and raffles I had been doing. With a friend I also started to do cake sales at school, which didn’t require much planning either and have also been very successful.

I organised a bag pack for my school team and I, at a local Morrisons, which took place last week. We had a great day meeting lots of people and telling them about our trip, as well as bonding and having fun. We raised almost £500 between us!
I am getting more and more excited about the trip as I collect more items for my kit and am counting down! I have also really enjoyed fundraising, although sometimes tedious, because I have met so many new people and had so much support from my family and friends.Unknown

This weekend I am holding a roller disco at a local hall with refreshments etc. I have sold tickets for £5 and hope to raise over £100 from it. We are also hiking the Yorkshire Three Peaks in summer as a team from my school, which will allow us to raise money from sponsorship, get stronger and fitter and bond as a team. I also hope to set up an online crowdfunding page and link this to my blog. I also have some more crazy ideas for fundraising in the summer which I am very excited for!

Great work Sophie!
