Whatever your results, there are lots of options open to you
Whether you don’t do as well as you’d hoped or get better results than you anticipated, there are lots of avenues you can take. With your results in hand, you’re in the best position now to make informed decisions about your next steps – whether that’s looking into clearing, considering an apprenticeship or work or deciding to take some time out to re-consider your options.
You don’t have to stick to your original plan
It’s ok to change your mind about where you want to head in the future. It’s been a while since you made your first university choices or applications and your feelings about what you want may well have changed in that time. If your plan A is no longer your preferred option, it’s never too late to start working on your plan B.
Don’t be hasty in your decision making
It can be a confusing and worrying time if your plans are changing, and it might feel tempting to grab at the first opportunity that comes your way. But remember this is an important stage of your life and probably one of the biggest decisions you will make, so it’s important to stay calm, do your research, and make sure you’re making the right choice for the right reasons.
If you’re not sure, take time
Taking a gap year can be the perfect opportunity to take a step back and reassess your options, develop your skills and add some unique experience to your CV, and gain a fresh perspective away from education.
If you’re considering taking some time out, make sure you join our webinar on Friday 18th August for more information about the incredible international volunteering programmes you could get involved with on your gap year.
