Photography has been my passion and profession for as long as I can remember! This year I decided to take some time off from working in a photographic studio and see some of the world! My first stop was Africa with camp Kenya! Wow what a place!

 

I went as a volunteer for three months, constructing buildings for the local school, teaching and helping out in an elephant sanctuary!

 

 

One of my favourite moments was photographing an elderly woman whilst doing an (anti-rubbish) survey of the village. She saw the HUGE camera strapped to my shoulder and called me over to her home. Not only did she want her portrait taken but she also started swinging her hips and dancing! This act of unspoken trust was humbling …so I started dancing and in the end we had a hug! I believe that the photograph is now on the brochure, so take a look, it means a lot to me!

 

I would like to say a big thank you to Camp Kenya who, from start to finish, gave me the opportunity to see things that I could only have previously imagined! Also a huge thank you to Eustas the driver, I would trust that man with my life!!!
