Make the mighty Amazon Rainforest your home. Immerse yourself in the traditions and culture of the local community and make a measurable difference to improving their quality of life. Get stuck into project work at local schools, improving infrastructure to ensure a safe and productive learning environment. There’ll be plenty of fun playing and interacting with the local school children too. You’ll also work on initiatives to help retain the local culture and heritage of the fascinating communities you’ll live and work alongside, so that they can benefit from visiting tourists. You’ll also have time to explore Tena and Quito, taking in some of the sights and experiencing the hustle and bustle of life in the Ecuadorian Capital, your 2 weeks in Ecuador will leaving you wanting more of this incredible country.

Ethnobotanical Garden (Amazonia)
The Amazon rainforest is one of the most important regions in the world and is home to more than 1000 animal species. However, it’s also one of the most threatened. You’ll help by establishing and maintaining an ethnobotanical garden and tree nursery for the community that can be used for reforestation and preserving cultural medicinal knowledge.

What better place to spend time than in the world’s greatest and most biodiverse rainforest! The journey before you even reach camp is a must-see, as you drive from the Andes (2800m) down to the rainforest (400m) through landscapes of global significance and unparalleled beauty.
Staying at Camp Amazonia is a very special experience as you actually get the chance to live inside the Ecuadorian Amazon. The camp is set beside a small river and is surrounded on all sides by lush jungle teaming with some incredible wildlife that you won’t see anywhere else. You’ll also spend time with the locals and learn more about their fascinating way of life. This really is a true adventurers paradise!
Location: 210 km (6 hours drive) from Quito International Airport
Accommodation: Traditional wooden buildings & tents with comfy mattresses & bedding. Flushing toilets, cold showers & sinks

Day to day - Sample itinerary
Welcome to Ecuador!
You fly into Quito and will be met at the airport by a member of our Camp Ecuador team before being transferred to your accommodation in the city (approx. 1-hour transfer).
Today we will make our way to the mighty Camp Amazonia! Get ready for the humidity and remember to pack your bug spray and sunscreen. The journey is generally between 4-5 hours and we recommend a good ipod playlist to accompany the beautiful journey views.
Project work begins! Projects here are varied but largely focus around the local primary school. You will work with us on a number of initiatives to improve infrastructure and provide safe and productive learning environments for local children.
Chill out in Tena
You will spend the next couple of days visiting the nearby town of Tena.
Back to project work
Back to project work. You will continue project work for the week before saying your farewells to the community.
Today we head back to Quito and you have a free afternoon and evening to spend there.
Your Camp Ecuador adventure ends today! We will say our final goodbyes before transferring you to Quito Airport, a few hours before your departure.
