Camp Peru Titicaca 2 Weeks
Based on the shores of the world’s highest navigable lake, Titicaca, you’ll be living and working alongside rural Peruvian communities. Work on projects focused on improving their standard of living – improving primary school facilities to change the futures of the local children and building greenhouse, planting seeds and saplings and running educational workshops to combat malnutrition in the community.
You’ll also visit the man made floating islands of Uros, a vibrant community living on islands made purely of reeds. In between project work, the bustling and culture filled cities of Cusco and Arequipa are yours to explore and a visit to a market to stock up on Peruvian handicrafts is a must, as is sampling some traditional Pisco Sours. Your 2 weeks in Peru will be packed full of rewarding project work and plenty of adventure. You’ll make a real impact on the community and won’t want to leave your new lakeside home.
The impact you will make
School Improvement (Titicaca)
The communities surrounding Lake Titicaca remain some of the poorest in Peru. The remoteness and inaccessibility of this region means that there is little or no help available from surrounding regions. You’ll help by continuing to build community facilities and a classroom for the villagers as well as restoring the school greenhouse.
- Laying foundations
- Mixing cement
- Plastering, painting and decorating buildings
