Ethnobotanical Garden (Amazonia)

The Amazon rainforest is one of the most important regions in the world and is home to more than 1000 animal species. However, it’s also one of the most threatened. You’ll help by establishing and maintaining an ethnobotanical garden and tree nursery for the community that can be used for reforestation and preserving cultural medicinal knowledge.

Turtle Conservation (Costa)

The waters surrounding Ecuador are home to green, hawksbill and leatherback turtles, all of which are now endangered due to human activity. You’ll support a local village close to an important turtle nesting site by promoting turtle conservation to help safeguard the future for these wonderful animals.

Camp Costa

Camp Costa is a wonderful camp set within a sleepy fishing village along the Ecuadorian coast. Only a short walk away (300m) you’ll find a quiet golden sand beach overlooking the warm and sunny Pacific Ocean. Here you can kick back, look out to sea and you may be lucky enough to spot dolphins, sea lions and even humpback whales cruising past.

The camp is located within the village where the locals are so friendly and welcoming that it will become your home away from home in no time. The football pitch is next door so you can challenge some of the locals to a friendly game after a hard day’s project work.

Location: 160 km (4 hours drive) from Guayaquil International Airport

Accommodation: Traditional buildings & tents with comfy mattresses & bedding. Flushing toilets & long drops, cold showers & sinks

Power: Mains electricity. US standard plug.

Meals: Three healthy, well balanced and tasty meals a day e.g. toast, cereal,  and fruit for breakfast; fish with veg for lunch/dinner & fruit

Signature dish: Ecuadorian ceviche, breaded prawns & patacones (fried plantain)

Social: Open sided chill out space with hammocks, volleyball court & football pitch. Bamboo gazebo and fire pit on the beach

Camp Amazonia

What better place to spend time than in the world’s greatest and most biodiverse rainforest! The journey before you even reach camp is a must-see, as you drive from the Andes (2800m) down to the rainforest (400m) through landscapes of global significance and unparalleled beauty.

Staying at Camp Amazonia is a very special experience as you actually get the chance to live inside the Ecuadorian Amazon. The camp is set beside a small river and is surrounded on all sides by lush jungle teaming with some incredible wildlife that you won’t see anywhere else. You’ll also spend time with the locals and learn more about their fascinating way of life. This really is a true adventurers paradise!

Location: 210 km (6 hours drive) from Quito International Airport

Accommodation: Traditional wooden buildings & tents with comfy mattresses & bedding. Flushing toilets, cold showers & sinks

Power: Generator (between 06:00 – 10:00 & 16:00 – 20:00)

Day to day - Sample itinerary

Day 01

Welcome to Ecuador!

You fly into Guayaquil and will be met at the airport by a member of our Camp Ecuador team before being transferred to your accommodation in the city (approx. 1-hour transfer).

Day 02

Camp Costa

Today we will travel down the coast to our wonderful Camp Costa. You will meet our legendary camp staff and they will show you around the neighbouring community and the projects you will be working on.

Day 03-07

Project work

Project work begins. We are working closely with the local primary school and high school on a number of initiatives to improve infrastructure and provide safe and productive learning environments for local children.

Day 08

Chill out day

Today is a chill day at the laid back beach town of Puerto Lopez. You might want to book a boat tour whilst you’re here to the beautiful Isla de la Plata. This charming island is home to blue-footed boobies, turtles and albatrosses.

Day 09-12

Project work

Back to projects at Camp Costa.

Day 13

Chill out day

Today we head to the lively coastal town of Montanita, home to lots of great bars and restaurants.

Back to project work at Camp Costa.

Day 19-20

Explore Quito

Chill out and explore the vibrant and bustling city.

Day 21

Camp Amazonia

Today we will make our way to the mighty Camp Amazonia! Get ready for the humidity and remember to pack your bug spray and sunscreen.

Day 22-26

Project work

Projects here are varied but largely focus around the local primary school. You will work with us on a number of initiatives to improve infrastructure and provide safe and productive learning environments for local children.

Day 27-28

Quito

We head back to Quito for your final two nights and a great chance for some shopping and a final celebratory meal with your crew.

Day 29

Departure day

Your Camp Ecuador adventure ends today. We will say our final goodbyes before transferring you to Quito Airport a few hours before your departure.
