I‰Ûªve been feeling rather ‰off‰ this week, no other way to describe it really! Not quite unwell, but I wasn‰’t really fully functioning! However, today I am most definitely feeling better and I‰’m back to my old, rather annoying, self.

It may have something to do with sleeping through yesterday, but it might also be because I received this amazing Fundraising story and I was inspired! Meet this week‰’s star, Alice, and read her story!

Hello!! I’m Alice Rodgers (the ginger one in the pictures). I’m going to Ecuador for the scuba diving expedition in July 2015 (not long to go!), and oh boy, am I excited!

Others from my school and I have been doing various fundraisers over the last year, from cake sales to quizzes and musical concerts. I’ve done a lot of fundraising by myself too, like refreshments at various different events, and also a large auction! I’ve sent letters to a few companies who have very generously sponsored me! Whilst all this was going swell, my friend Lauren Pengelly and I, decided we needed to step it up!

We were looking to raise a large amount of money so we could start buying our kit, and we knew it had to be something big…big…..high. And that’s when it struck us! Bungee jumping!

We looked into it, and just like that it was booked and ready for February 21st, only one month away at the time!! At this point I was trying to avoid thinking of my fear of heights.

We started looking for sponsors straight away, asking anyone and everyone, from teachers to friends.. even my grans work friends! Within a month we’d raised a total of around £800! I was amazed at just how much we raised. All that was left was….. the jump. The nerves started to kick in.

The 21st came around far too quickly and we were off to Birmingham to take the dive. With both of us dressed up as super-girls, they strapped us together by the feet and waist, and then we hobbled over to the crane to be lifted into the sky.

We hovered over the edge for a while…

…And then it happened!

The experience was insane and to be honest all I remember was a lot of Lauren’s face! I must say I did enjoy it, even though I had my eyes closed for a lot of it.

I‰’m currently planning a quiz and coffee morning at my local community centre, and an easter event at a local primary school with Lauren :)

I hope you enjoyed reading my lil’ story!

I love that Alice conquered her fears for her fundraising, that is some serious dedication to your expedition and I‰’m sure you will have the best time ever!

As ever, PLEASE send me over your fundraising story, it makes me smile when I get to read your stories! What I look for when picking a Fundraising Friday Star is what you felt when you first heard about the expedition, a few paragraphs about what you have been up to so far for your fundraising, any future fundraising plans and some pictures of your fundraising! LOTS of pictures! (pleeeeeease) But the pictures do need to be of a high quality that can be uploaded online‰! no fuzzy mugshots! 😉

Please email all entries to sophie.cohen@campsinternational.co.uk, I can‰’t wait to hear from you all! 😀 Remember, every Fundraising Friday Star will win a FREE HEAD TORCH!

If you win, you will automatically be put into a draw to win an even bigger prize… every quarter we will choose one Fundraising Friday Star to win A FREE RUCKSACK, SLEEPING BAG LINER, TRAVEL TOWEL AND WATER BOTTLE!!! Which means less kit you’ll have to buy.
