Just another manic Friday! I know the song is meant to be Monday, but oh well, I‰’m the master of my own destiny and I will rewrite songs if I want to!… You can tell it has been a long week can‰’t you? Please excuse me being slightly mad, but I guess it is no different to how everyone around the office sees me day in and day out!

Moving swiftly on, our Fundraising Friday Star today is a rather incredible one! It definitely caught my eye, and I‰’m sure it will catch yours too‰! Meet Chris, and his amazing mum Tammy!

(Chris) When I first heard about the expedition, the main reason I wanted to go was that I thought it would be a good experience for me and I like knowing that what I am doing will be helping people. I thought it would help boost my confidence and independence, as well as looking good on my C.V. When I am in interviews it will give me something to talk about and it might help me get a job in the future too!

To help me raise the money so far I have done lots of smaller events like selling some sweets at school. My mum is a face painter so she also collected donations at work. We raised a lot of money just through having a donations tin alone!

(Tammy) But Chris and I were the Gym as he is trying to get fit for the trek… He spends most of his life in his bed playing the XBOX so I had to do something to get him out of the house to get focused and fit, he helps me go to the gym too!

While in the steam room at the gym, Chris and I were talking about Cambodia and how to raise more funds he said that he felt bad asking people for money as we had already been given some via go fund me as donations. Chris suggested buying more sweets to sell at school, however another student was also doing this so he didn’t want to tread on anyone’s toes.

We then had the realisation that it wasn’t going to be long before the final payment was due and we were short. He also reminded me that we needed all of the kit and I then thought about the injection cost too. So feeling a little swamped, we had to think about what could raise a good amount of money. Chris then suggested a head shave as he thought we would raise a lot of money. After a few days thinking about it, I agreed that it would hopefully raise money quickly.

We obtained permission from his school to get his head shaved too but they only allowed a grade 3, which was still quite short for Chris.

We are still collecting money but have enough to pay our final payment on 1st May.

I have attached some pictures…. they tell more of the story than either of us can!

Serious dedication to fundraising!!! We in the office are so impressed with this.

As ever, PLEASE send me over your fundraising story, it makes me smile when I get to read your stories! What I look for when picking a Fundraising Friday Star is what you felt when you first heard about the expedition, a few paragraphs about what you have been up to so far for your fundraising, any future fundraising plans and some pictures of your fundraising! LOTS of pictures! (pleeeeeease) But the pictures do need to be of a high quality that can be uploaded online‰, no fuzzy mugshots! 😉

Please email all entries to sophie.cohen@campsinternational.co.uk, I can‰’t wait to hear from you all! 😀 Remember, every Fundraising Friday Star will win a FREE HEAD TORCH!

If you win, you will automatically be put into a draw to win an even bigger prize… every quarter we will choose one Fundraising Friday Star to win A FREE RUCKSACK, SLEEPING BAG LINER, TRAVEL TOWEL AND WATER BOTTLE!!! Which means less kit you’ll have to buy.
