WOW! – this young lady, what a superstar! Imogen used her fantastic artistic skills to not only fundraise, but put a lot of smiles on a lot of faces too! SO thoughtful and so productive, go Imogen! Such an inspiration!

When I first heard about the expedition I felt like it was a great opportunity to experience a different way of life, help those less fortunate than us, learn unique life experiences and create unforgettable memories along the way. But alongside this, I was apprehensive about the large amount of money I had to raise, as well as dealing with the pressure of preparing for exams. This was overcome by the excitement of having a once in a lifetime opportunity.

At first, during December, with the help from my Mam £624 was raised by selling Angel lights (candles to light in remembrance of loved ones during Christmas time), customised children’s Christmas dinner plates with cartoon characters drawn on, wrapped candle gifts and putting forward a bulk of my wages. On Boxing Day we raised £242 from donations by just shaking a bucket in a local pub. These were all simple but effective ideas which gave me confidence in raising the rest of the money.

The murals and the windows are things I’ve done with work and put forward most or all of my wages towards fundraising. Drawings were commissioned by my family and mam’s friends. The canvases are being created for an exhibition which are being prepared for this summer, which 9 local artists will be attending and various other donated pieces all to raise money for this trip.

I have also been doing some commissioned portraits and drawings for family and friends. Bag packing, leaving buckets in local pubs, donations and regular babysitting duties have also helped to push the fundraising further. So far I have raised £2,013.

Next I am planning to have an exhibition in the summer. Using my talents make it more enjoyable and I feel incredibly proud and grateful to have amazing family and friends that are giving me support along the way!
