This weeks fundraising friday star is the wonderful Harry! He’s held a big event which has proved so successful everyone wants him to plan another! Homemade pudding and all sorts! What a great start to a fundraising journey, have a read folks! Go Harry!

I’m Harry, I am going on expedition in 2017 to Ecuador with Camps International. I have just completed an event for my fundraising which managed to raise £405 which I have put towards my expedition.

The event was a floral demonstration which I organised and was presented by Ian Lloyd (a Chelsea flower show judge and professional florist). The event was held at the Lodore Falls Hotel in Borrowdale, we included in the event luxury afternoon tea and at the end we decided that his last arrangement should be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

The event was very successful as I raised £405 and all who attended enjoyed their afternoon and recommended that I should run the event again.
image1Where I live near the lakes, with it being a popular tourist attraction I am able to walk up mountains and easily sell homemade flapjack to passers by. As a development to this I am planning to sell hot drinks and a variety of snacks on top of some of the mountains throughout the the summer. When people in the past have stopped to buy flapjack they have often been very interested in what I am doing and what I will be doing in Ecuador.

Also in a local cafe I am organising a pudding night where people will be able to buy and taste a variety of different and new puddings. This will also include a cake sale and a quiz on popular puddings. The puddings for the event will all be homemade by me and my mum with help from nan. Hopefully this will be a popular event that will be supported by local people. Later in the year at my sailing club I am planning to hold a horse race night where members will be able to be the jockeys and owners of the horses, and anyone else can guess the winner. The horses are actually wooden and on a long string, the jockeys have to race to wind them in which makes it more involved and exciting. I have done this many times before at a local hotel which always seemed to be popular.

After the positive feedback from my floral demonstration and afternoon tea event I am hoping to run another similar event this time next year. This has been demanded by many of the people who attended the event.

To help with fundraising I also have an easy fundraising page which has currently raised £54.21 so thank you to all my supporters.
