How to host a successful event:

If you don’t know where to start or want to check that you haven’t forgotten anything, then follow our simple 5 step guide below:

Step one, time to get thinking! Start mind mapping fundraising ideas. Struggling to think of what to do first? Turn your hobbies into fundraising ideas!

For example, if you’re really into playing football, could you hold a 5 a side football competition? Or, if you’re crafty, consider holding your own craft workshop. If you’re a keen baker, you could host your own afternoon tea event. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for our monthly fundraising suggestions and sign up to our Facebook page where you can read other peoples’ success stories and share some of your own too.

Step two, once you’ve chosen your first event, use the downloadable event planner to get you started.

Step three, head over to the Traveller Gateway and choose from the bunting, posters, logos and much more to bring your event to life.

Step four, don’t forget to advertise! Set up your own fundraising page on Facebook or create hashtags and tweet on Twitter. Contact local newspapers and radio stations and let them know what you’re up to! Don’t forget you can also create posters and flyers to advertise on noticeboards.

*Helpful Hint* Feeling adventurous? Set up your own website to raise awareness of your fundraising events and the amazing causes you’re raising money for. Try using a free website creator such as

Step five, to help plan future events, create a fundraising calendar and organise your next few months of fundraising. Don’t forget to spread out big events and include smaller, easier ideas to keep you on target to smashing your fundraising goals.
