Experience beautiful Costa Rica and help make an impact on the local environment. During your 2 week stay, you’ll be based at our fantastic Camp Caño Negro set amongst the diverse flora and fauna of Costa Rica.
Immerse yourself in the traditions and culture of the local communities and make a measurable difference to improving their quality of life on our projects. We listen to the needs of each community so you’ll be working on the projects that are a priority for them. You’ll also get the chance to enjoy the unbelievably green and wildlife rich Monteverde. If you’re looking for a short trip with maximum impact, this programme is for you.
The impact you will make
Wildlife Protection (Caño Negro)
Though Costa Rica accounts for only 0.03% of the earth’s surface, it holds 6% of the world’s biodiversity. However, the diverse flora, fauna and animal species are under threat from human activity. Your work here will help to protect the local wildlife through conservation efforts with the community.
Camp Caño Negro
The boundaries of Camp Caño Negro are formed by the waters of the Caño Negro refugio (wildlife refuge) which stretches into Nicaragua. Situated in the far north of the county it is next to one of the world’s most important migratory bird habitats. Relax in the mornings spotting caiman basking on the banks of the waters edge.
Location: The community of Caño Negro is located in the Alajuela Province. 4 hours from San José.
Accommodation style: Cabins with bunk beds.

Camp Caño Negro
In this beautiful camp, our projects focus mainly on wildlife conservation. You’ll spend the next few days getting stuck into project work with your teammates.
Enjoy two free days in the cloud forest. Almost every publicity photo you ever see of Costa Rica is taken in Monteverde. It has an incredible diversity of wildlife and a lot of adventurous activities for you to try out in the canopies.
A five-hour trip to San Jose to spend the night before your flight the following day.
We will say our final goodbyes before transferring you to San Jose Airport, a few hours before your departure.
