The impact you will make
Schools Improvement (Colca)
The small community near our Camp Colca sits on the edge of the mighty Colca Canyon at 3,600 metres above sea level. Due to its remoteness and relatively harsh environmental conditions, the community here is very poor. You’ll help by continuing many varied projects to improve the lives of this charming community.
- Laying foundations
- Mixing cement
- Plastering, painting and decorating buildings
- Planting food crops

Travel to Camp Colca
Today we kick off the epic road trip (approx. 4 hours) to Camp Colca. The journey ascending into the Andes is wonderful. You’ll be sure to see Alpacas and Vicuñas on the way, as well as climbing to almost 5000m above sea level before dropping down on to the sides of the canyon.
Our project work here focuses on improving infrastructure at local schools. In addition, you will be working in collaboration with the wider community on a number of micro finance initiatives designed to promote sustainable livelihoods.
Cruz del Condor
3-4 hour trek to Cruz del Condor to view the magnificent condor bird (the largest flying bird in the world). The viewpoint over the canyon is truly breathtaking.
Back to projects at Camp Colca.
Relax and take advantage of the lovely coffee shops in the small plazas of Puno and try some of the interesting local dishes such as algae from the lake.
