In view of the Government of KenyaÛªs withdrawn feeding program for the Sasenyi School students, Global Angels and Camps International have stepped up to the mark to provide a minimum of 12 months staple food for the students. This initiative is not a short term humanitarian effort but a long term commitment to improve the welfare and subsequent learning ability of Sasenyi students. A total of å£14,500 (Sterling/Equivalent Ksh 2million) has been raised for the next 12 months with a view to extending the program on a long term and possibly indefinite period.
Camps International, with the help of very generous donors, continue to support the school with a number of additional projects which include: Enhanced water storage and rainwater collection, construction of an additional classroom for Year 3 students (total classrooms provided to date are 7), a new toilet block for the boys in addition to last years for the girls, a new kitchen constructed last year and the continued construction of rain water gabions to protect the school against erosion.
ALL of the Camps team efforts have contributed to the continued success of this (and many other) Camps International programs across the globe. These continued successes, demonstrate that Camps InternationalÛªs approach to responsible tourism, is an effective and workable model. Our heartfelt thanks is extended to everybody that works for or with Camps International.
