This week we are celebrating reaching 20,000 likes on Facebook, which prompted us to think about what we’d like the next milestone to be and why. So our next mission is to reach 35,000 likes – a like for every life changed through our projects in Africa, Asia and South America.

At Camps we are exceptionally proud of our ongoing, unique approach to supporting some of the most vulnerable people in rural villages where poverty levels are high, and there is virtually no form of income beyond small-scale farming.

At any one time our volunteers are supporting over 100 humanitarian projects. Camps delivers sustainable projects that enhance the lives of rural communities. We never leave a project unfinished and our project outcomes are hugely successful.

Every project our volunteers work on is real, not a by-product of tourism. We commit to make a real difference. We work with the community to focus on the challenges they are facing and deliver real change. We don’t paint the same classroom over and over. We build a school classroom or kindergarten, complete the project and then move on to the next challenge.

We’re not easily deterred. The projects we take on include education, housing, healthcare, sanitation, environmental protection and wildlife conservation and support the creation of sustainable livelihoods and microfinance.

How do we do this?

In every one of the destinations we have our own camps, run by local staff who we employ to connect our drive of changing lives with the challenges facing the local community. The materials sourced for the projects are ideally from local sources, therefore adding to our support for the community.

Our camps are at the heart of the community and in turn the community hold us very close to theirs. The experience every one of our volunteers gets is that they are very much home from home. You’ll feel like a local. Living alongside the locals and immersing yourself in the culture and rural village life.
