Alongside our long-term commitment to improving our sustainability, we’ve launched a 30-day plastic free challenge for our entire Camps family – and we’d love you to join us. Our aim is to create a worldwide movement of conscious citizens sharing their challenges and successes in reducing their own plastic pollution as much as possible to protect our wonderful planet.
Will you take a stand with us and pledge to reduce your plastic use?
The problem with plastics
We’re all becoming increasingly aware of the disastrous consequences of our dependence on plastic items. Whilst they may be convenient, plastic pollution is choking our oceans, killing our wildlife and harming our health and wellbeing. Approximately 50% of the plastic we use, we only use once and then throw away. The majority of this is not recycled, ending up in our natural environments and oceans where it will take 400-1,000 years to degrade.
What can we do?
It may seem difficult to live without plastic these days, but there are lots of simple steps you can take to start cutting down on your everyday single-use plastics, such as buying loose fruit and veg at the market rather than plastic-wrapped groceries, saying no to plastic straws and carrying reusable water bottles and coffee cups.
There are many sustainable alternatives to plastic products, which are widely available and competitively priced.
The Cleaner Camps Mission
We’re taking the opportunity to assess the sustainability in every area of our organisation and are committed to finding long-term solutions that are kind to the planet. Watch this space for more updates soon.
