Camp Peru Community & Machu Picchu Trek 1 Month

Based on the shores of the world’s highest navigable lake, Titicaca, you’ll be living and working alongside rural Peruvian communities. Work on projects focused on improving their standard of living; we listen to what the community feel is needed to ensure maximum benefit for them. Get stuck into improving the primary school facilities. Malnutrition is an issue in the local community, you’ll work building greenhouses, planting seeds and saplings and running educational workshops. Take in the breathtaking views across the Sacred Valley from Camp Moray and observe the traditional farming methods in the area. The 5 day trek to Machu Picchu is a real once in a lifetime adventure. You’ll trek the Salkantay Trail to the amazing World Heritage Site.  There’s also a visit the man made floating islands of Uros, a vibrant community living on islands made purely of reeds. The bustling and culture filled city of Cusco is yours to explore. A visit to a market to stock up on Peruvian handicrafts is a must, as is sampling some traditional Pisco Sours. Your month in Peru will be packed full of rewarding project work and plenty of adventure. You’ll make a real impact on the community and won’t want to leave your new lakeside and mountain homes.

The impact you will make

01

School Improvement (Titicaca)

The communities surrounding Lake Titicaca remain some of the poorest in Peru. The remoteness and inaccessibility of this region means that there is little or no help available from surrounding regions. You’ll help by continuing to build community facilities and a classroom for the villagers as well as restoring the school greenhouse.
