Kenya was home to our first camp back in 2002 and now is home to both Camp Muhaka near the coast, and Camp Tsavo that sits close to the world famous national park. Kenya is a firm expedition favourite with our volunteers as it offers so much variety and opportunity for adventure; from vast open savannahs with amazing wildlife, to pristine beaches and coral reef, rainforests and mighty snow-capped mountains. In rural Kenya the majority of people live below the poverty line and access to clean water, proper sanitation, healthcare and education are often very limited or non-existent. Project work depends on the needs of each community, you could be involved in low-level construction work, building school desks, painting classrooms or constructing water tanks. There will also be plenty of wildlife and environment focused projects to contribute to, from reforesting damaged areas, maintaining wildlife perimeter fences to making elephant deterrents.
